Candace Price...has been a passionate storyteller for the past 9 years.
Since arriving at WXOW News in La Crosse, Wisconsin at the beginning of 2020, she has dug deeper on topics related to race, politics and a global health emergency. Currently she’s excited to be anchoring a 2 1/2 hour morning news show, producing and reporting. Most notably, Candace has recently spear-headed a long-form series called Hometown Conversations, inviting prominent community members to discuss topics of national discourse in a sit-down interview setting.
Formerly she worked as a Morning News Anchor in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Prior to that she was at CBS Radio in San Francisco, where she took opportunities to grow as a reporter, rising from News Associate to Editor in a years time.
She is most proud of her investigative work unpacking the heartfelt stories of frontline workers during the Coronavirus Pandemic. From long-haul truck drivers, to teachers and small business owners. She has been honored to share both the struggles and triumphs of those in her community. She is fascinated by the social and political shifts happening both nationally and locally, as well as technological advances and the rapid development of artificial intelligence.
Although she is a Bay Area native at heart, Candace has called many places home. She has lived for extended periods of time in New Orleans, Chicago, Kentucky, Wisconsin and South America.
Her interest in broadcasting began as a young child. Growing up in a news conscious home, it was always news before cartoons in the mornings before school. She began preparing for a career in journalism while in high school, where she took part in both theatre and a journalism clubs.
Candace studied both politics and media at Calvin University. Also during that time, she worked at Grand Rapids Magazine covering lifestyle and community engagement stories. She’s convinced getting her start in print has made her a better reporter.
During her final year at University, Candace interned at CBS2 in Chicago in the production department. She then moved on to produce a short film and documentary in Cabo Blanco, Peru. That film later winning an HBO Latino Film Award. She spent some time traveling the Americas. shooting photography, before heading to New Orleans to write about politics at The Louisiana Record.
In the early months of 2016, Candace completed her first independent documentary called Black Hair. It is an examination of the different ways hair can impact the way people are often viewed and otherwise discriminated against in the workplace.
The fight for racial equity, fair immigration practices and animal rights are a few causes dear to Candace's heart. She also enjoys promoting her plant-based lifestyle on social media!
Candace loves to travel, and has completed a recent surfing trip in Central America. When she’s not exploring the world, Candace loves to cook, hike and listen to crime podcasts.
