I've always said I'd probably be a skinny model if I didn't love bread so much. No carb diets have been, and always will be, an enemy to everything good in the world. My ah ha moment was during the movie, "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," when Ramona tells Scott that bread makes him fat. Those memes about nothing tasting as good as skinny feels, are total bullshit. Maybe I'm ranting a little too much right now, because I've been cutting calories to prepare for #summerbodygoals. Still nothing screams it's the holidays like warm yummy bread. From Halal to Panettone...I cannot get enough...literally. I had a spout in my college days when I really got into baking, it's a Dutch/Michigan thing so don't ask. Basically I was making homemade bread all the time, and the holidays seem like a great time to revive this hobby! My manager is awesome on so many levels, but she is especially cool for handing out fresh sage and rosemary at work recently. I have a ton of rosemary now, so I decided to make rosemary bread as an easy dish to take to all my holiday parties! Why did I title this Rosemary's Baby? Well for one... I'm a huge horror movie fan. Second, that movie happens to be my fav! Third, when I'm baking I always feel kind of witchy mixing a little of this… a little of that...toil and trouble....and that makes double. You get it! As always use/replace what you want, and as always enjoy! Oh and I know measuring is so important for pro bakers, but I STILL didn't measure. I just looked at the consistency, and added what I needed. Leave a comment if you need measurements, and I'll hook you up. Happy Holidays fam!
INGREDIENTS:
Yeast
Sugar
Rosemary
Wheat Flour
Warm Water
Almond Milk
Salt
Olive Oil
RECIPE:
Mix in a bowl two parts warm water, one packet of yeast and a couple of spoonfuls of sugar. You want to have the mixture foam, and then you know that you didn't F it up. The foam means that the yeast is active, and it usually takes around 5 minutes. After that add your flour, a spoonful of olive oil, a bit of almond milk, sprinkle of salt (see what I mean about the witchy aspect lol). Mix everything in the bowl until you have elastic dough. You want a consistency that you can play with. Think Playdough... hahah get it now? Knead the dough, adding flour to your surface and hands to prevent the dough from sticking. Knead the dough for like 10 minutes, then through it in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Now most people let the dough rise in room temperature for around 2 hours...for me I let is rise for 45 minutes. You can preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit at this point. After the dough is done rising, place it in a baking pan, brush with olive oil and sprinkle the rosemary on top. Bake for 20 minutes then let stand. All done!
